Annual Recruiting Fishing Derby!

When: May 13th n 9:00AM-12:00PM

Where: 11900 McKimmey Lane

What: Fishing derby and recruiting event. 

Who Can Attend? This event is open to any children ages Pre-K to 4th grade. The event is open to current cub scouts and anyone else who is interested in scouting and would like more information. All children must be accompanied by at least 1 legal guardian. 

Who Can Fish: All children under 16 can fish without a license in the State of Virginia. However, any adult wishing to fish must hold a valid VA fishing license that must be shown to event staff prior to fishing.

Who Can't Attend: This event is open to children between pre-K and 4th grade and their parents/guardians. Prizes are for those children only. Older children and adults are not eligible for prizes. Dog and other family pets may not attend this event unless the animal is a service animal and is on a leash. 

Prizes: $20 gift cards will be given out every hour of the derby for the largest and smallest fish recorded that hour. Children are only eligible to win one gift card for the duration of the tournament. Winners must be present at the time of announcement to claim their prize.  Winners will be announced every hour beginning at 10:00am and ending at 12:00pm. Any winner not present at the time of announcement will forfiet his/her/their prize. 

Other Important Information: 

1. The pack will be providing limited rods, tackle, and lures to participants. All children are encouraged to bring their own gear if possible. Fresh bait and supplies can be purchased from Smoketown Bait and Tackle on Potomac Street in Brunswick. 

2. Bathrooms will not be provided for this event. 

3. Food and drink are allowed for this event; however, this is an alcohol-free event. Furthermore, participants are responsible for their trash and clean up thereof. 

4. A waiver must be signed by a legal guardian for all participants.
